TaxCalcUSA - Post Tax Season Tips

De-stress from Tax Season!

The tax season crunch is over!  You’ve gotten most, if not all of your clients signed and sealed.  Now it’s time to finally wind down and de-stress from the heavy workload and just relax a bit.  Here are a few simple but easily forgotten tips to help you lower your blood pressure and just b-r-e-a-t-h-e!

§  Vacation!  Perhaps a three-day weekend is as much time as you can afford to take, but you’d be surprised how much you can relax in just 3 days if you pick a spot or activity you enjoy.

§  Spend family and friend time.  With all the time you spent working you may have discovered that you didn’t have time to be with the people you love and enjoy.  Plan lunch with a friend or family member, or just simply give a call to someone you haven’t spoken with for a while.

§  Exercise.  You were probably too busy during the height of the season to even take a walk.  Take an hour and sign up for that yoga class you’ve been thinking about.  Or take a long walk or hike and take in the scenery.

You’ve earned a high-five for all of your hard work, but you also probably need some much earned down-time too.  Go on – take a breath and relax!

Visit www.taxcalcusa.com to get a jump on your tax forms and envelops for the 2013 tax season. They’ll make it a breeze for you to get what you need efficiently and conveniently, without the headache!

The Water Store - Iron in Drinking Water

Iron in Drinking Water.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) established “national primary drinking water regulations” that set mandatory water quality standards for drinking water called “maximum contaminants levels” (MCL’s).   Iron in water is considered a “secondary” contaminant.  The MCL’s for iron are 0.3 mg/L.  Noticeable effects of too much iron in water are:

Iron in house pipes that can be found throughout the house.

rusty color

reddish or orange color

sediment

metallic taste

There are a wide variety of problems that are a result of secondary contaminants and can be broken down into three categories:

Aesthetic effects -- undesirable tastes or odors

Cosmetic effects -- effects that do not damage the body but are still undesirable

Technical effects -- damage to water equipment or reduced effectiveness of treatment for other contaminants

Conventional treatments can be used to remove secondary contaminants, such as iron, from our drinking water. These treatments include:

·   coagulation/flocculation

·   filtration

·   aeration

·   granular activated carbon.

Aeration Iron Removal System: Aeration Iron removal system will add air to the water for the oxidation of Iron, Manganese and Rotten Egg Smell (Hydrogen Sulfide Gas). The aeration system is the greenest form of filtration to clean up Murky discolored water with a bad smell, also used on chlorinated water to remove odors, sediment and acid water. The system can also be upgraded with an air pump.

Visit “The Water Store” on-line athttp://www.thewaterstorenh.com/products/drinking-water-systems to find out how you can remove iron and other contaminants from your family drinking water with The Water Stores’ Aeration Iron Removal Systems.

The Water Store - Did you know?

Did you know?

Radon is not just in the air but in the water!

What is Radon?

According to the “New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services” (NHDES), Radon is an odorless, tasteless, colorless radioactive gas that surprisingly is a naturally occurring gas.  Radon comes from radium decay which occurs in rocks and soil and can dissolve in groundwater and subsequently get released in the air when you shower, do laundry or use the dishwasher.  This type of soil migration generally is the source of the largest percentage of radon in the average home.  Water testing usually takes 48 hours to process and requires a special water sample bottle be used.  Call The Water Store at 603-889-6680 or visit us at www.thewaterstorenh.com to obtain a sample test container.

What are the health effects of radon exposure?

Exposure of radon gases in the air have been linked to an increased risk of lung cancer in studies.  Risks are increased with the ingestion or consumption of radon in water.  According to an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Health Risk study, Dr. Maria Neira of WHO said that "Most radon-induced lung cancers occur from low and medium dose exposures in people's homes. Radon is the second most important cause of lung cancer after smoking in many countries."

In 1996 Congress reauthorized the “Safe Drinking Water Act” (SDWA) regarding radon gas in water.  Then, in 1999 the EPA started the process of establishing radon gas standards for public water systems.
How can “The Water Store” help eliminate Radon contamination in my home?

Radon Water System

The aeration method for radon in water mitigation is considered by the EPA to be the best available technology (BAT).  Most aeration systems are 99+% effective for removal of well water radon.

The aeration systems at The Water Store have 2 processes.  The water is first sprayed in the radon removal chamber that starts the aeration process.  Next (step 2), large volumes of filtered air is injected into the water, which creates millions of bubbles that travel through grids.  The bubbles continually break and release the harmful radon gas from the water.  The radon free water spills into a chamber where it’s repressurized and ready for home use. Give The Water Store a call today at 603-899-6680 for more information.
